I love the antique look of these photographs, especially the bottom one. I also like the wonderful detail and pushed contrast without blowing out the whites. Did you start with RAW images? Would love to see the bottom one in comparison with a higher f-stop to see a deeper DoF. Might not have been possible and still have the very clear focus up front.
I did start with a RAW image. The bottom photo was a tight crop (about 50%) of a landscape shot. f/6.3 85mm 1/25sec 100-ISO. I processed it out with Canon Digital Photo Professional to a 16bit TIFF and converted to monochromatic in Lightroom 2.5 (Antique Grayscale, Auto Tone and Landscape presets). Thank you for the suggestions. I could have easily used a higher f-stop.
