This is a snapshot of my daughter painting. I was experimenting with rear curtain flash when I took this picture. It was a very dark time in our house, and there are no harsh shadows from the flash.

I used my Dollar Store fake flowers to practice some of the exercises from the class on Wednesday. In my camera Histogram it showed a bell curve with a values to both ends. When I uploaded them into PSE, my histogram showed values to both ends, but it was flat. When I have more time I will practice with real flowers.

This was a dark day and I was trying to practice with the flash. She doesn't like the camera, and this was the only shot she gave me (bribery works wonders!). This is just a snapshot, but I like what the flash did for this photo.
I'm headed to Portland tomorrow and won't be contected to the internet for a couple of days, but I will be attempting some more flash, motion and value practice while I am there.

I think the light is really nice on the photo of your daughter. For being "just a snapshot" it's really captured a the moment well. The colors are great, and the shadows are really subtle. I don't have an external flash yet, but it's photos like this that make me want to get one!
